Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actor, singer and model. Her most well-known role was co-starring in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having as the leader of the girl group Apollonia 6. She was one of several female artists to benefit from Prince's partnership in the 1980s. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica, California in the year 1959. Her professional career began as a model in the 1970s. Also, she was a guest on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the female lead of Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she changed her name) and became Vanity as part of the female-led trio Vanity 6 who performed in the film under the title Apollonia 6. Her performance had more impression on the charts when she was Prince's partner on Take Me with You, a duet from his soundtrack. The relationship between Kotero and Prince ended when the pair disagreed on her direction in career. Apollonia 6, the organization she was a part of, split. Over the next few years she was a part of several small films. (She is reported to have refused to appear in the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon.) Her then landed a part on the evening show Falcon Crest between 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album debuted in 1988. However, the R&B/dance tracks weren't well received from the general public that bought into music. It soon disappeared. Apollonia continued to perform in the acting world (even even if she was somewhat under-the-radar) over the course of the decade performing in small television roles and film appearances. There was even an exercise film that made its debut. Apollonia released a bilingual album in Spanish and English called Stay with Me in 1997. The following year, she attended college. for a degree in filmmaking as well as a production company often working in the field of children's TV. Apollonia plays many roles.
